“No one really knows why they are alive until they know what they’d die for”

When a need to solve a serious number-crunching crisis arose in the 19th century-a dreamer- was inspired. An English mathematician Charles Babbage conceived a steam-driven calculating machine …a wonder which was to going to birth a world revolution, many which lie yet in the solitary haven of our being!

Someone once said “A dream is the seed of possibility planted in the soul of a human being which calls him to pursue a unique path to the realization of purpose.” Have you ever seen a blind person work magnificent, mind-blowing, scintillating wonders with his hands. He was replicating the world which is beyond the physical eyes. A world unhindered the hullabaloos of the external cosmos. A sphere of possibilities, challenged and provoked, yet with undaunted strength. The tool of the mind: IMAGINATION!

Jim Crow Laws was incapable of stopping the visionary power in Martin Luther king Jr. ‘I have a dream’. The segregation on the outside beckoned on the submerged vision and it came through like a torrent. It was so real! So real! The day when colored people ‘will not be judged the color of their skin but the content of their character’. The Obama of this world stepped out into reality about five decades after his dream. The mind: WOMB OF POSSIBILITIES.

When you close your eyes what do you see? In the solitary of your crowded soul, what pictures flashes? In the place where no one has the keys to except you, the place of freedom, what teases your senses? What If no one will ask the question ‘How’, who would you be? What feats will be achieved? Assuming you get paid for dreaming, what would you see?

It’s amazing how things come in pairs presenting us an unavoidable decision of choice! Good-Bad, Love-Hate, Courage-Cowardice,PROBLEMS-POSSIBILITIES.So called problems have been the motivation for many possibilities we all see today. History is filled with fighters who defied physical handicap, financial handicap, social limitation, academic challenges etc. and wrote their names in the sand of time. The balls in their socket saw problems but the light in their minds saw possibilities.

How do you explain the doggedness of an almost totally deaf, half learned, destitute teenager who later became an inventor that cannot be waved aside (I talk about Thomas Edison the inventor of the first light bulb? Or Alexander Grahambell that was not bright academically yet went ahead to refine the brightness of his imaginations into a device for communication.

A dream is a light that lights up another!

Did it cross Mahatma Gandhi’s mind, when he led the nonviolent resistance in the campaign for India’s independence from British rule, that his vision will have a ripple effect on leaders all over the world such as Martin Luther King Jr.? Perhaps Babbage knew his calculating machine would inspire J.V Atanasoff, IBM, Steve Jobs, APPLE, Microsoft …most likely, NO. Yet the world is defined, molded and shaped the phenomenal offspring- his dream. Every molecule of human activity breath‌es the existence of a daring and stubborn dreamer.

We all are a dream away from relevance!
