Today on #MondayMotivation,  hang on! Learn from Oprah Winfrey, Michael Phelps and the UEFA champions League finals in which Real Madrid won Liverpool. Let’s ride!

This morning I read the story of how Michael Phelps, the gold medalist in the Beijing 2008 Olympics brought home a record eight best-time gold medals. That’s what people saw, what they did not see was the agony Phelps went through to win one of such medals. His invincible spirit saw him through the 200 meters pool. He’d swum 200 meters almost blind, an experience swimmers dread. Counting strokes, looking desperately for any marks on the pool floor, he finally touched the finish wall. As Michael pulled off his goggles and the world watched, incredulous, water poured out of them. He had gone through a lot in the water that many did not see.

We all go through stuff in life, many would not see them, it is the victory they want to see. They want to see us win eventually. So my motivation to you today is to hang on. Your success is nearer than ever before (and I’m talking to myself too). All you’ve been through would soon be a testimony. Hang on!

Over the weekend, the world watched as Real Madrid and Liverpool challenged themselves in the Champions League final match in which Real Madrid won Liverpool 3-1. There is a lot to learn from that match. I wrote a masterpiece on it which you can read here.

The beauty of life is that life is in seasons, there is time for every purpose under the heavens. A time to dream and a time to achieve, there are times when you might be down, but it is certain that such times would not last forever. It is important for you to hand on. The season you are now would soon change. Instead of feeling down in your present season, use it to prepare for the next beautiful season. Remember, after rain comes sunshine and after night comes daylight. Your season is changing, soon it will manifest.

Let me leave you with this story Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah is one of the top Tv talk show hosts in the world today. She had experienced failure several times. From age 9 she was sexually abused. She even got pregnant at age 14 but the baby died shortly after delivery. She went to live with her father Vernon, in Tennessee in the US where she got accepted on a full scholarship to Tennessee State University, majoring in communications.

She had interned in a local radio station in high school and in her first two years of college which helped develop a foundation for a career in meda. Even after Oprah was hired on a local television station for the news, things didn’t go so easily. She got fired by the producer because according to to him, she was “unfit for television”. She later took a new position with another station in Baltimore where she hosted a local talk show named, “People are Talking.”

Her fame blossomed in 1983 when she relocated to Chicago to host a station’s low-rated talk show called AM Chicago. Within a few months, the show went from last in the ratings to number one spot. This led to the show being renamed The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Hang on! Everything may not be in place yet, but your season would soon change.

See you at the other side!

Thank you for reading.
