Be You! Everyone else would adjust. – Adedolapo Adediran
Find yourself and define your self in your terms.
Who am I?
You can’t be yourself if you don’t know, understand and accept yourself first.
It should be your primary goal to find this out.
Oscar Wilde once said with his usual wit – Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.
Find the time to learn upon what you value and take time to consider what makes up the essence of who you are. Try to think about what kinds of things you would or wouldn’t like to do.
Find your values. We all have a built-in set of personal values. If we lose touch with our true self when we violate those values , we violate our relationship with the person we really are.
Avoid holding on to your past, allow yourself to forgive your past errors and past behaviours you are not proud of.
Never stop looking for your own strengths. Comparison leads to resentment. A person filled with resentment can not focus on the mantra of ” Be yourself”.
Relax and stop worrying about the worst that could happen in social situations. Learn to laugh at yourself both when it happens and afterwards.
Stop caring about how people perceive you. Some people will like you and some of them won’t. Just let your behaviour flow naturally.
If you change your self for one person or group, another person or group may not like you and you could go on forever in vicious cycle trying to please people instead of focusing on building up your talents and strengths.
Build up a circle of trusted friends and people who share your views and beliefs in life.
Being yourself isn’t a choice, it is a way of life, period!
Express yourself and be happy with who you are. Develop and express your authenticity. Whether its your manner of speaking or way of doing something that stays different from the rest of the crowd, and be proud of it. Follow your own style!
If you had to spend the day with yourself, which version of you would you spend it with?
Work on this best version. Believe this is you and use that as your starting point. Lovingly accept yourself as you are now.
You deserve to be your own best friend.
